This Police Administrative Aide position is with the Vehicle Impound Detail assigned to the Public Records & Services Bureau in the Phoenix Police Department. This position is responsible for assisting with the administration of the Vehicle Impound Program.
Duties Include, And Are Not Limited To
- Notifying drivers and owners of the impounded vehicles and their hearing rights.
- Scheduling and overseeing hearings within 48-hours of request.
- Researching vehicle owner information with Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and Records Management System (RMS).
- Communicating with the public in person and by telephone.
- Authorizing vehicle releases for the towing/storage facilities.
- Enforcing the Arizona Revised Statutes 28-871 and 28-3511, as well as Phoenix City Codes Chapter 36 and Chapter 23 section 23-55.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strong customer services skills in potentially difficult circumstances.
- Knowledge of:
- Arizona Revised Statutes and Law Enforcement Practices.
- Gathering information and completing Public Records Requests.
- Ability to:
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate good judgment and responsible behavior.
- Work in various weather/environmental conditions (extreme heat, rain, blowing dust, high pollen count, insects, etc.).
SALARY Pay Range:$19.54 to $35.08 per hour.
Hiring Range: $19.54 to $28.86 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of experience performing clerical duties.
- OR Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred QualificationsThe minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
- Experience with/in:
- Difficult customer service situations.
- Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Word and Microsoft Calendar.
- Working with Records Management Systems (RMS).
